Referee Code of Conduct

 

  • Ensure that the competition by-laws and rules are consistently and fairly applied to all teams
  • Be consistent, objective, and courteous in calling all infractions
  • Compliment both teams on their efforts
  • Condemn deliberate fouls as being unsportsmanlike, and promote fair play and appropriate sporting behaviour
  • Actions speak louder than words. Ensure that both on and off the courts your behaviour is consistent with the principles of good sportsmanship
  • Make a personal commitment to keep yourself informed of sound officiating principles
  • Comply with Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Recreation Centre's procedures for safety, incident/accident reports and customer complaints

  • Play by the rules
  • Never argue with a referee. If you disagree, your captain may approach the referee during a break or after the game in an appropriate manner. If the matter is not resolved, a complaint can be made by way of an email or letter to the Sports Coordinator
  • Control your temper. Verbal and physical abuse of referees, other players, or spectators, as well as deliberately provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted at the Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Recreation Centre
  • Be a good sport. Acknowledge all good plays whether or not they are by your team
  • Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of another player
  • Avoid use of derogatory language based on gender, race or impairment
  • Spectator Code of Conduct

     

  • Applaud good performances from each team. Congratulate all players regardless of the outcome
  • Respect the referees decision. If there is a disagreement, follow the appropriate procedure in order to query the decision
  • Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches or players
  • Show respect for your teams opponents - without them, there would be no game
  • Encourage players to obey rules and referee decisions
  • Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language, being disruptive, harassing players, or harassing referees
  • Avoid use of derogatory language based on gender, race or impairment
